The Claiborne High School Bulldogs played the Rutledge Pioneers at Claiborne High School for their homecoming game Friday, Oct. 14th. Possession of the ball went back and forth the entire night with visiting Rutledge winning by a score of 12-7.

The first quarter was mostly uneventful with no score by either team. At the beginning of the second quarter Rutledge kicked a field goal, making the score 3-0. The Pioneers made another field goal made toward the end of the quarter.

Up 6-0, the Pioneers had the ball again near the end of the second quarter. On the first down play, the Bulldog's Jeff Poore intercepted the ball and ran down the field. He dodged a tackle and finally fell, ending the half.

With 6:11 to go in the third quarter, Jared Liles of the Bulldogs ran the ball 13 yards for their only touchdown of the game. The extra point made the score 7-6 in favor of CHS.

Rutledge's first and only touchdown of the night was made by Jake McAnally. They went for the two point conversion but the pass to the end zone was deflected by Fuson Parker. The fourth quarter was scoreless, and the final score was Rutledge 12, Claiborne 7.
