Elder Elvin Thompson, 87 of Calvin, KY, passed away Tuesday, December 18, at the Pineville Community Hospital. He was born May 9, 1925 in Calvin, KY, the son of the late David Beeler Thompson and Mary Elizabeth Thompson. He believed in the Primitive Baptist faith, where he had served as an Elder for many years. He was retired from the Kentucky Highway Department. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife: Mae Buell Thompson; a grandson: Jeffrey H. Bentley; 3 Sisters: Hassie Hoskins, Devauda Hoskins and Cleo Lawson; 6 Brothers: Otis, Dewey, Riley, Silus, Kelley and Chester Thompson.

He is survived by the following members of his family: 2 daughters: Elva Jean (Phillip) Thompson and Jackie (Harold) Bentley; 1 son: Eldon (Kathy) Thompson; 5 grandchildren: Rick Bentley, Gena Thompson, David Keith Bentley, Becky (Paul) Dealy and Wesley Thompson; 5 Great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, December 21 at the Calvin Primitive Baptist Church with the Elder Kenneth Robbins, Elder Noel Lee and Elder Steve Greene presiding. Music will be provided by the church singers and Rick Bentley. Interment will follow in the Buell Cemetery at Page, KY. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, December 20, at the Creech Funeral Home.
