Hazel Jean Goins Thompson, 90,. died Sunday November 18,2012 at the Middlesboro Health and Rehabitation Center. She was born in Middlesboro July 5, 1922, daughter of the late Horace Maynard and Stella Mae Prater Goins. Hazel was a homemaker, who also worked at the F.L. Jacobs Defense Plant in Detroit, Michigan during WWII, and at Wakin Brothers Grocery Store in Middlesboro. She was a member of Bingham town Baptist Church where she was a Bereavement Committee Captain and Sunday School Teacher.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 65-years, Caleb Thompson; a son Johnny Caleb Thompson, Jr and a grandson Johnnie Caleb (Budgie) Thompson III; two brothers and two sisters who died in infancy, Earl Goins, Arvolee Goins, Hattie Lavina Goins, and Lorraine Goins; brother, Roy Goins, and sisters, Opal Fleeman and Beverly Dalton.

She is survived by two daughters, Phyllis (“Pie”) Thompson and Barbara Jean (Roy Asher) both of Middlesboro; three grandchildren, Johnna Ann (Mark) Lancaster of Versailles, KY; David (Joy) Asher of Nicholasville, KY; and Karen (Greg) Marsee of Versailles, KY: five great-grandchildren, Samantha and Elizabeth English and Madeline Jean Marsee of Versailles; and Daniel and Caroline Asher of Nicholasville; daugher-in-law Liz (Jack) Washburn of Versailles; niece Brenda Taylor of Middlesboro and nephew Larry(Carolyn Goins) of Cumberland Gap, Tennessee, and special friend, Glenna Laws of Middlesboro.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday November 20 at the Creech Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Allison H. Anderson and music by Beth Parker and Bonnie Daniels. Pall Bearers will be David Asher, Greg Marsee, Larry Goins, Mark Lancaster, Glen Long, and Steve Marsee.

The family will receive friends at the Creech Chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.Burial will be Wednesday November 21 at 11 a.m. at the Drummonds Cemetery in Clouds, Tennessee.
