Tyler Brewer led all scorers with 25 points while Chad Massengill added 24. Harlan County also got 13 points from Alex Sergent in the win.
Middlesboro was led by Derek Smith’s 16 points. Cameron Rancher added 10 while Donnie Foister had nine and Zack Riddle and Michael Wilson finished with eight apiece.
The visiting Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 12-4 lead in the first quarter, but it was all Harlan County after that. The Black Bears closed the period on a 15-2 run to take the lead.
The Bears’ momentum continued into the second quarter as they outscored Middlesboro 23-10 to take control of the game.
The Yellow Jackets were never able to get closer than 16 points in the second half as Harlan County continued to pull away.
Middlesboro (2-2) will host Harlan in a 52nd District contest today, while Harlan County (3-0) will travel to North Laurel on Wednesday.
