Julius Edward Williams, 53 of Middlesboro, went to be with our Heavenly Father on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012 at the Mt. Home V.A. Hospital in Johnson City, Tenn. He was born September 7, 1959 in Middlesboro, a son of Nathaniel Williams and the late Annette Ballenger Williams. He was a member of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. He went to Middlesboro High School from 1974-1978 and was a member of the football, baseball, basketball and track teams. He was inducted into the Middlesboro High School Hall of Fame in 2009.
He served in the National Guard and the United States Army from January 1987 - May 1993 and he was a disabled veteran. In addition to his Mother he was preceded in death by grandmothers, Mildred Ballenger Mc Combs and Louise Mc Combs Williams; grandfathers, Julius Ballenger, Charles Williams and William Arthur “W.A.” Mc Combs; an unborn grandchild; nephew, Cameron “Cam” Shoulders; father-in-law, Larry Grubbs and step-father-in-law, Vernon Collett.
Survivors include: wife Carolyn Grubbs Williams of Middlesboro; son, Kevin Ray DeWayne Williams, who is serving in the U.S. Navy of Kaneohe, HI.; daughter Tanisha Anne DaShanna Williams of Middlesboro; father Nathaniel “Punk” Williams of Middlesboro; brothers, Nathaniel “Tubby” (Darlene) Williams, Jr. of Lafollette, Tenn., Clint “Bear” Williams of Indiana, Brian Williams of Texas; sisters, Anita and Mildred Williams of Middlesboro; three half-sisters, Jo Ann (Philip) Shoulders of Louisville, KY., Krista Williams of Middlesboro, Susan Williams of Middlesboro; sprecial friend, Charles Ferguson; mother-in-law, Betty Taylor of Pineville; brother-in-law, Donnie (Dana) Grubbs of Rancho Cucamonga, Cali.; special brother-in-law, Raymond “Bo” Collett of Pineville; special niece, Hannah Faye Nicole Collett of Pineville; special sister-in-law Lisa (David) Flanary of Middlesboro; three aunts and three uncles and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Creech Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Arthur Trent presiding. Music by Rhonda White, Albernita Cummings, and the Church of the True Living God of Holiness Choir. Interment will be in the Green Hills Memorial Gardens with full military honors given by the American Legion Dewey Guy Post #14 and passing of the American Flag to his wife Carolyn Williams by his son Kevin Williams and Friends. Pallbearers will be Kevin Williams, Raymond Collett, James Spriggs, Jamie Messer, David Flanary, Larry Kyle, Petie Gilbert and David Earle. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Monday at the Creech Funeral Home.
