GREENEVILLE, Tenn. — The Lincoln Memorial University men’s golf team cut four shots off their round one total, as they cruised to an eight-shot victory in the Tusculum Fall Classic. Connor Froning completed the sweep for the Railsplitters as the freshman earned medalist honors. Play was completed on Tuesday afternoon at Link Hills Country Club, a 6,763 yard par 71 nestled in Greeneville, Tennessee.

The Railsplitters fired rounds of 283 and 279 to finish with a total of 562, six-under par for the tournament. LMU finished eight shots in front of tournament host Tusculum College who notched rounds of 292-278 to earn the runner-up spot. Lenoir-Rhyne University took a third-place finish with a two-day total of 575. The top-five was rounded out by a three-way tie for fourth, as North Greenville, Tennessee Wesleyan and UNC Pembroke fired totals of 585.

Freshman Connor Froning garnered the individual crown for the Tusculum Fall Classic, as the Knoxville, Tennessee native posted rounds of 67 and 69 to finish at six-under par for the event, two strokes ahead of Lenoir-Rhyne’s John White.

The low round of the afternoon belonged to Rand Wasson, who capped a solid showing with a five-under par outing of 66. The sophomore earned a tie for third place with a two-day total of 139. Wasson earned Tusculum Fall Classic All-Tournament honors at the conclusion of the round along with teammate Connor Froning.

Jamie Chapman finished in a tie for fifth with rounds of 67 and 74, completing the event at one-under par. Braden Galyon posted a 76 on the first day and responded with a one-under par 70 on day two, earning a tie for 17th. Richard Allen Hoskins capped team play for the ‘Splitters with matching efforts of 78 and 78 to take a tie for 55th.

Competing as an individual, Taylor Dreps finished in a tie for 32nd with rounds of 73 and 76, putting him at seven-over par for the event.

The Tusculum Fall Classic also crowns a combined winner in coordination with the women’s event being held at the same venue. With the Lincoln Memorial University women’s golf team’s second-place finish, LMU earned the top spot with a two-day total of 1,177, seven strokes ahead of Tusculum College. UNC Pembroke rounded out the top-three at 1,200.

The Railsplitters will be back in action October 1st and 2nd, as they head east for the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate. That event is slated to be played at Sea Trails Golf Club.
