HARROGATE, Tenn. — In a game completely dominated from start to finish by the Lady Railsplitters, the Lincoln Memorial University women’s soccer team routed the Bryan College Lions 5-0 in nonconference action Wednesday. With the win, LMU jumps to 7-6-1 on the season, while Bryan falls to 3-12-1 on the year.

Among the five goals scored by the Lady Railsplitters, sophomore forward Nicole McKinney led the way with two scores and an assist, tallying five points on the afternoon. McKinney notched the first score of the game at the 18:49 mark, using a beautiful dish from Kristen Cook off the right side and beating the Lion keeper to put LMU on the board.

McKinney scored again in the 44th minute, this time off of an intercepted feed from Bryan. She capitalized on the errant pass from the Lions to notch her second score of the match, bring her season total to three.

Flanked by McKinney’s two scores, Savannah Pitt tallied her fifth goal of the season at the 26:03 mark, rebounding a deflected shot to extend the Lady Railsplitters’ advantage. Lincoln Memorial would carry a 3-0 lead into the break.

Coming out of that break, the Lady Railsplitters added a pair of goals in the second half. Olivia Thompson recorded her second goal of the season at the 57:27 mark. Thompson used a long feed from McKinney, drove the ball into the box and slammed it past the keeper into the net. Rachael Vienneau capped the scoring for Lincoln Memorial with a goal in the 63rd minute, dribbling the ball up the right side and driving the ball into the corner of the net to extend the lead to 5-0, which fell as the final margin of victory for the Lady Railsplitters.

The Lady Railsplitters dominated the battle offensively, tallying 31 shots with 12 shots landing on target while limiting the Lions to only four shots and three shots on goal throughout the game. McKinney led the way with eight shots while Vienneau and Pitt tallied five shots apiece.

Kayla Stephens and Emma Miller combined for the shutout in goal for the Lady Railsplitters. Stephens notched 62:39 in goal with one save while Miller recorded the final 27:21 in net with a pair of stops. Stephanie Gagnon played all 90 minutes in goal for the Lions, making six stops in the losing effort.

LMU also recorded nine corner kicks in the match.

The Lady Railsplitters will now direct their attention to Newberry College, as the two teams are slated to square off on Saturday in the regular season finale. That match is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. in Newberry, S.C.
