HARROGATE, Tenn. — The Lady Railsplitters snapped a two-game skid and a two-game losing streak to Mars Hill College by taking a commanding three-set victory (25-10, 25-19, 26-24) over the Lions in South Atlantic Conference volleyball action on Wednesday evening at Mary E. Mars Gymnasium. With the win, LMU improves to 17-10 on the season and 9-4 in the SAC, while Mars Hill falls to 13-12 overall and 6-9 in league play.

The Lady Railsplitters compiled 41 kills on a .257 attack percentage in the match, highlighted by the double-digit performance from senior middle blocker Blaire Fowler. Fowler (Fort Worth, Texas) tallied a game-high 11 kills to go along with 13 digs which also led all players in the match. She added an assist and three block assists in the match.

Kaitlin Walton (Muncie, Ind.) finished the contest with eight kills on only 17 attempts to tally a .412 attack percentage. Walton also notched a solo block in the match. In total, eight different players earned at least one kill for Lincoln Memorial.

The setting duo of Brittany Pugh (Farmersburg, Ind.) and Allison Beavers (Tomball, Texas) combined for 35 assists, paced by the effort of Pugh who finished with 19 to lead all players. Beavers added 16 assists and narrowly missed recording a double-double with nine digs in the triumphant effort for the Lady Railsplitters.

Casey Mense (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) shored up the defensive effort for Lincoln Memorial with ten digs in the match.

The Lions were paced by Jill Biediger’s ten kills, as she was the lone player on the Mars Hill side to finish in double-figures for kills. MHC was limited to 33 kills in the match as a team with a .095 attack percentage. Hannah Wilson led the team with 14 assists while Becca Smith aided the offensive unit with 11 in the match. Hillary Bambrell led the Lions defensively with 12 digs with Maggie Murphy finishing just off that pace with 11.

The Lady Railsplitters captured the first two sets of the match with relative ease, as they ran away with the first frame by a score of 25-10. Lincoln Memorial compiled 15 kills in that frame on a .480 attack percentage while forcing the Lions into seven attack errors.

LMU continued their hot-hitting in the second set, running away with a 25-19 victory on the wings of 14 kills on a .312 attack percentage.

Lincoln Memorial found themselves facing a 23-20 hole in the decisive third set, however, they responded with a 6-1 rally, capped with a kill from Blaire Fowler to notch a 26-24 victory and a 3-0 sweep over Mars Hill.

The Lady Railsplitters move away from Mary E. Mars Gymnasium this weekend, as they hit the road for a pair of South Atlantic Conference contests. On Friday, LMU travels to Lenoir-Rhyne University for a match up with the Bears in Hickory, N.C. That match tips at 7 p.m. The Lady Railsplitters complete the road swing at Brevard College on Saturday.
