Staff Report

Janis Walters, a local retired school teacher, has recently written and published her book entitled “Adventures of Libby and Sophie: Sometimes Our Friends Can Get Us Into Trouble.”

Walters, who taught for 35 years in the Middlesboro Independent School District, wrote the book to help children understand the feeling of peer pressure and what can happen when children give into it. She hopes the book also teaches children lessons on how to deal and cope with different issues in life.

Walters has been retired for three years. Writing the book was one of the things Walters said she wanted to do after retiring. She read the book to children in the Middlesboro School District early in October.

She hopes the book will turn into a series. The focus of the next book is bullying, which is an increasing problem across the United States. The book has been written and sent off to the publisher.

Her book can be purchased on amazon.com or barnesandnoble.com.
