Staff Report

Kentucky State Police Trooper Joey Brigmon reported Friday that a man involved in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. 25E on Wednesday did not involve life-threatening injuries, and has since been released from the hospital.

Brigmon said Clyde D. McManaway, 40, of Bean Station, was traveling north when he lost control of his 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and flipped the vehicle several times.

McManaway was removed from the vehicle by the Bell County Rescue Squad and airlifted from the scene by AirEvac. He was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center.

“He was discharged later that evening from the UT Medical Center,” Brigmon said. “He was wearing a seat belt, which most likely saved his life.”

Brigmon said traffic was shut down for approximately an hour. He said McManaway was the only person involved or injured in the crash.

Troopers Ryan Sizemore and Marcus Williams; the Bell County Fire Department; Department of Fish and Wildlife; and the Middlesboro Police Department also assisted at the scene.
