MIDDLESBORO — Maude Inez Leah Fletcher Collins, age 88,, died Friday, October 30, 2009.

Born May 30, 1921, in Bosworth, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Thomas C. Fletcher and Sarah Seabolt Fletcher. She was a member of Hensley Chapel Church in Middlesboro, and a Y-12 “calutron girl” during World War II, making uranium for the atomic bombs.

She married Esridge Collins on Nov. 14, 1946, and had a daughter Judith Ann in 1950, and a son Joddy Van in 1955. I

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband Esridge; sisters and brothers, Annie Lasley, Media Fletcher, Edna Heck, Ben, Charles, Columbus, and James Lemuel Fletcher.

Survivors include her sister, Helen Stockman; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Bill Hiscock; son and daughter-in-law, Joddy and Suzi Collins; grandsons, Todd and Aaron Hiscock; two great-grandchildren, Teagan and Dominick; sister-in-law, Charlcie Collins; nieces, Okie Lee Wolfe, Sandy Robertson, Helen Coleman, Theresa Collins, Cindy Code, Renda Rodrigas, Mary Martinez, Joyce Martin, Kathy Patterson, Rita Miller, and Vicki Steedman; nephews, Bruce, Jess, Mark Collins, and David Petersen, Thomas and Bobby Heck, Larry, Ronnie, David, Onie Fletcher, Ricky and Jody Stockman; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation was Tuesday, November 3, from 6-8 p.m. at Creech Funeral Home in Middlesboro.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 4, at 10 a.m. at Creech Funeral Home with the Rev. Thomas Bradley Heck and the Rev. Murphy Buell presiding.

Graveside service will be at Hurst Cemetery after the funeral. Pallbearers will be Jess Collins, Mark Collins, Bruce Collins, David Petersen, Thomas Heck, Bobby Heck, Allen Keck, and David Berry.

Creech Funeral Home, Middlesboro, is in charge of arrangements.
