Tasty Time Frozen Yogurt opened in Middlesboro on Dec. 11, with a score of 100 percent on their regular inspection. Tasty Time is a self-serve yogurt shop featuring 10 different flavors of nonfat frozen yogurt and over 30 toppings.
Tasty Time is the only self-serve frozen yogurt shop in Middlesboro and, according to the Chamber of Commerce, the only known yogurt shop ever to be opened in Middlesboro.
Owner Jolin Li invites customers to come in and sample the various flavors to decide which one they like the best. Li likes to allow customers to sample the yogurt to ensure they are satisfied with their purchase.
Customers can mix and match from the 10 different flavors of nonfat frozen yogurt to create their own unique treat. Currently, featured flavors include wild strawberry, New York cheesecake, dark chocolate, peanut butter, orange, birthday cake, vanilla, cookies-in-cream, pumpkin pie and sea salt pretzel.
So far, birthday cake has been the most popular flavor, said Li.
Once the customer has chosen their flavor(s), they can choose from over thirty toppings to finish off their cup. Toppings include jelly beans, rainbow sprinkles, and numerous types of chocolate pieces.
The price for the yogurt and toppings is 45 cents per ounce. Customers can fill their yogurt cup with as little or as much yogurt and toppings as they would like. Once the customer is finished creating their treat, they bring it to the cashier to be weighed and priced.
Once customers pay for their treat, they can sit down at one of the modern couches or tables and enjoy themselves while using the shop’s free Wi-Fi.
Although Tasty Time has only been open for a couple of weeks, they already have some regular customers.
Li said the shop has been popular with families who like to come in for dessert after supper and college kids like to come in later at night.
Robbyn Baker of Pike, Ga., was in town visiting family for the holidays when they all decided to come in Thursday afternoon for a treat. Baker’s family had already enjoyed Tasty Time and wanted her to come try it as well.
In addition to self-serve frozen yogurt, Tasty Time also offers espresso, coffee and hot tea.
This is the second Tasty Time Li has opened. She opened her first store approximately six months ago in Lexington.
Tasty Time Frozen Yogurt is located at 300 North 12th Street, Suite 2, between Aaron’s and Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
Tasty Time is currently open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
