CALVIN — William Glenn Widner, age 55, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2009, at the Pineville Community Hospital.

Born February 23, 1954, at Pineville, he was the son of Helen Lee Widner and the late Bill Widner. He believed in the Pentecostal faith, and had been co-owner of Widemark and Widner and Sons.

He was born with a God given talent for music and at the age of nine began to play the drums. His heart’s desire was to use his talent to serve and praise the Lord. He did this as the drummer for The Heaven Bound Singers for nearly two decades. His love for the Lord allowed him to travel the country with the band to sing and minister God’s word.

Later in life, he served as a guest chaplain at the Chenoa Prison Camp. He loved God, life, his family, and most of all his sweet grandbabies. He will be truly missed but celebrated for the life he lived and the love and kindness he showed to others.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Carolyn Sue Miracle Widner; children, Stephanie and Dan Sanders, and Michael and Tammy Widner; grandchildren whom he called his babies, Kyle, Emily and Ethan Widner, Brooklyn and Hailey Sanders; his mother, Helen Lee Widner; special mother-in-law and care-giver whom he called mamaw, Mae Miracle; brother, Stephen and Nancy Widner; sister, Pam and Fox Hensley; sister and brother-in-law, Marlene and Bob Wrzenski; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A celebration of his life will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Pastor David Rice and the Rev. Darrell Lowe presiding. Music will be by Larry and Debbie Green, Adrienne Mason, Sherry Lindsay, John Hobbs, Becky and Paul Long.

Burial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Pinelawn Memorial Gardens, Pineville. Pallbearers will be John Widner, Travis Hensley, Darrell Lowe, Donnie Centers, James Miller, James Miracle, Larry Mason, Wayne Harris and Gerald Baker. Honorary pallbearers will be Fox Hensley and Millard Brock.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, October 30, at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home in Pineville which is honored to serve the Widner family. Light a virtual candle or sign guest register at www.arnettsteele.com
