Coaches announce boys All-13th Region teams

The 13th Region Boys Basketball Coaches Association has released their All-Region teams for the 2012-13 season.

Harlan County senior point guard Tyler Brewer is the group’s choice for player of the year while Corbin’s Tony Pietrowski and Red Bird’s John D. Wilson shared the coach of the year honor.

Several local players made the team with Pineville seniors John Simpson and Byron David Asher making the first team along with Bell County junior Tyler Potter. Middlesboro juniors Donnie Foister and Austin Poindexter were named to the second team along with Pineville senior Seth Jeffrey.

Also Middlesboro’s Michael Wilson and Pineville’s Simpson, Jeffrey and Jared Philpot were named to the All-Region Academic team. Any seniors with a gpa of 3.5 or higher make the team.

The awards will be presented on March 17 at around 3:15 p.m. between All-Star games at Knox Central High School.
