Staff Report
A one-vehicle crash in Pineville resulted in a Middlesboro woman being airlifted to a trauma center Thursday.
Kentucky State Police Trooper Brian Greene responded to the wreck on KY 2394 at Dorton Branch.
Greene said he arrived on the scene and determined that a 2005 Ford Focus was traveling north on KY 2394. The operator of the vehicle, Kristy Lynn Cloud, 33, of Pineville, lost control of the vehicle and dropped off the shoulder of the road. The vehicle overturned down an embankment coming to rest on its side against a tree. Cloud was able to free herself from the vehicle; however a passenger in the vehicle, Cindy K. Asher, 40, of Middlesboro, was trapped and had to be freed from the vehicle by the Bell County Rescue Squad.
Asher was airlifted to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, Knoxville, Tenn., where her condition is unknown at this time. Cloud was transported to Pineville Community Hospital where she was admitted for her injuries. She has been cited to court on charges of operating motor vehicle under the influence (second offense) and no insurance.
The crash remains under investigation by Greene. He was assisted by Trooper George Howard.
