Staff Report
An east Tennessee man remains in custody at the Bell County Detention Center after allegedly placing hidden cameras in the men’s restroom at Walmart in Middlesboro.
Randall R. Rogers, 49 of Speedwell, Tenn., was arrested on Monday and charged with six counts of promoting a minor under 16 in a sex performance and one count of video voyeurism.
At the time of the arrest, Rogers was also charged with seven counts of first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.
Middlesboro Police Chief Jeff Sharpe said the department had been working on the case since last December. It was at that time officers from the Middlesboro Police Department (MPD) found the first camera inside the restroom.
Sharpe also said the Claiborne and Lincoln Memorial University police departments had several alleged incidents as well over the past several months. Another hidden camera was discovered in the Walmart restroom in Middlesboro two weeks ago.
Rogers was apprehended by Lt. Tom Busic of the MPD in the Walmart parking lot. Middlesboro police were able to identify Rogers because he captured his face on the cameras when he turned them on after placing them in the restroom.
Police also said Rogers had a camera in his possession when arrested, but it was blank. Police also searched his home and found more evidence.
The case is still under investigation by the Middlesboro police and more charges are pending.
