A Tazewell, Tenn. man pleaded guilty to a theft charge in Bell Circuit Court on Monday. Mike R. Evans II, 32, pleaded guilty to an amended charge of receiving stolen property under $10,000.
Assistant Common-wealth Attorney Tara Pope recommended a three-year sentence in the penitentiary. She also recommended Evans pay restitution in the amount of $2,250 to the victim.
Evans was originally indicted in February on the charge of receiving stolen property over $10,000. According to the indictment, Evans had in his possession two I-Pods, a Cannon camera, an I-Pod cover, black bag, I-Pad, gold bracelet, Box head set and a Rolex watch. Each item was stolen.
Evans was also indicted for being a persistent felony offender, but the commonwealth recommended that charge be dropped. The case officers were Barry Cowan and Sgt. Wade Barnett of the Middlesboro Police Department.
Evans is set to receive final sentencing on June 3.
Elijah K. Morrison, 32, of Ingram entered a guilty plea on Monday. He pleaded guilty to an amended charge of two counts of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense.
Morrison received final sentencing on Monday as well. He was sentenced to two years in the penitentiary for both possession charges. The sentences will run concurrently.
Morrison was originally arrested on the charges in 2012. He was arrested by Cowan.
