“We made it to the semifinals of the All ‘A’ and got beat out. We just decided we had to come back strong this week,” Lady Lion coach Shari Knuckles said. “(Until Monday) every one of our games we have had to play in cold weather or snow and I’m really proud of the girls. They started out by beating Bell County and we’ve won a few more since then. It seems like we either win big or lose big.”
Williamsburg was led by catcher Angel Hinton who singled, was hit by a pitch and scored two runs. Lexi Boggs doubled for the Lady Yellow Jackets’ only other hit in the game.
Rebecca Lee-Theis pitched all six innings to earn the win. She allowed six runs, two earned, on two hits while striking out two, walking two and hitting a batter.

Pineville got another RBI grounder from Rebecca Lee-Theis and an RBI single from Brooke Sanders in the bottom of the fifth to make it 10-3.
Three Lady Lion errors and a wild pitch led to three runs for Williamsburg in the sixth. Hinton was hit by a pitch while Megan Lawson and Marah Crusenberry both reached on errors and all three came around to score.
Pineville put the game away with six runs in the bottom of the inning. Brandy Sanders started it with a hard grounder to short that got through for an error and Gambrell doubled. Lizzie Lee-Theis and Knuckles delivered RBI singles and one out later so did Brooke Sanders and Allen. Jackson reached on an error and Brandy Sanders finished off the game with an RBI single back up the middle.
“I’ve only got two seniors in the starting line up and the rest of them are freshmen, sophomores and juniors along with one 8th-grader,” Knuckles said. “I’m still with a young team, but this is the type of team that’s ready to get after it every practice we’ve had.”
Pineville (4-2) will play at Harlan County on Thursday, then host Knox Central on Friday in a 51st District seeding game while Williamsburg (2-6) visits South Laurel today.
