It is great that Middlesboro is integrating technology in all of the schools. However being in the IT field for most of my adult career, I cannot understand why they have chosen Mac. This just creates another learning curve and incompatibility when getting into the collegiate levels, and in the business world. I will say that Mac is being more integrated into the business world with the popularity of the iPad, however Windows based systems will continue to hold the largest market share in the business world and cost significantly less. Middlesboro is wasting taxpayer money with Apple. Each of those 30 Macs are $1199 minimum. (reference http://www.apple.com/imac/). That totals $35,970. If they had went with a popular business PC such as Lenovo, they could have gotten touch screen all in ones for $679. (reference http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/web/LenovoPortal/en_US/catalog.workflow:category.details?current-catalog-id=12F0696583E04D86B9B79B0FEC01C087&current-category-id=39C14BDA121A7E1A29215401555A479B). That's a total of $20,370, a savings of $15,600. That could have bought another Middlesboro School 22 additional computers. You tell me is this smart management of your tax dollars?
