On Saturday, Rita Hansard spearheaded the second annual Fun4Kidz Fest in downtown Middlesboro.
Contributing to the fun was T & T Stables, offering pony rides; face-painting by Tonia; Jim Fortner providing a martial arts display; Gym Majic Dance Team; Shanon Partin, a young entertainer; Cumberland River Academy, singing and playing; Christopher Tuttle, also part of the entertainment.
Some say that Hansard is also a big draw in the entertainment category. That’s because so many people know her as the beloved Kennedy James from Kat Country Radio WFXY in Middlesboro.
The event was held at the city parking lot in downtown Middlesboro.
“The setting is special to me,” said Hansard. “We have such a beautiful city and this parking lot is ideal for such activities. A big part of what we want to accomplish is bringing people out and furthering community involvement.”
Moms and Dads walked around holding the hands of their youngsters who pulled them with all of their might toward funnel cakes and coke floats. All sorts of vendors and concessions could be enjoyed by the more than 300 people that showed up to experience the festival event.
The weather hindered the car show, as many antique or valuable car and truck owners didn’t come out due to fear of the looming inclement weather. There were still a few cars and trucks and those were a treat to see as passersby marvelled at the craftsmanship and customizing that went into the body work and interior creativity of those vehicles.
Nevertheless, in spite of a few rain sprinkles and lively winds, people came out and Hansard reported that it was a great and successful day.
