With the dust beginning to settle from district tournaments around the state of Kentucky, the time has come for postseason awards to be announced. On Monday, the 13th Region Media District Awards were released with Pineville players highlighting the Bell County area.

The headliner of the three players to make an all-district team was Jillian Enix. The junior forward was named the 51st District Girls’ Player of the Year.

Despite an early exit from the district tournament, Enix helped lead the Lady Lions to an impressive 23-8 season. That includes a clean sweep at the J. Frank White Classic, a 13th Region All A Classic championship appearance, and two close battles with 13th Region power Harlan.

Enix finished the 2016-17 campaign with a team-best 13.9 points per game while shooting at a 40.4 percent clip. She also led the team in rebounding with nine per game.

On the boys’ side, seniors Trent Lefevers and Cody Carnes landed on the All-51st District Team. While the Mountain Lions had an early exit from the district tournament, the senior-led squad won the 13th Region All A Classic for the second consecutive year and earned a trip to the All A State Tournament. They finished the year with a 19-10 record.

Lefevers led the team in scoring averaging 18.5 points while shooting a team-best 52.5 percent from the field. He shot 36.2 percent from beyond the arc and also collected 6.3 rebounds a night.

Carnes ended his tenure at Pineville averaging 16.4 points while shooting at a 46.5 percent clip. He led the team in rebounding with 9.7 per game.

Harlan and Harlan County ran the table in the 52nd District in both the boys and girls division. Jordan Brock was named 52nd District Player of the Year for the girls and Cameron Carmical won the award on the boys side.
