13th Region awards announced


Lefevers, Morris, Carnes receive postseason honors

Victor Morris was named second team all-region by the basketball coaches association. The senior guard led Bell County in scoring after averaging 11 points during the season.


Cody Carnes was named third team all-region by the 13th Region media. He was also named to the coaches association second team all-region.


With the Sweet 16 round of the state tournament about to get underway, regional postseason awards have began flooding in with several players from around the area receiving honors.

Both the 13th Region Media and Coaches Association awards have been announced with Pineville and Bell County players earning honors in each.

For the Southern Kentucky Life Magazine 13th Region Media Awards, Pineville’s Trent Lefevers and Cody Carnes earned a spot on the Third Team All-Region Team. The two players also received recognition from the coaches association with Lefevers earning first team honors and Carnes making his way on the second team.

Lefevers and Carnes finished their tenure at Pineville leading the team in scoring and rebounds. Lefevers ended the 2016-17 campaign averaging 18.5 points while shooting at a team-best 52.5 percent clip. He also averaged 6.3 rebounds during the season.

Carnes averaged 16.4 points while shooting at a 46.5 percent clip. He led the team in rebounds with 9.7 per game.

Bell County’s Victor Morris was also recognized by the 13th Region Coaches Association. The senior guard was named Second Team All-Region.

Morris led the Bobcats in scoring throughout the season averaging 11 points while shooting 38.5 percent from the field. He also hit a team-high 40 3-pointers during the season and hauled in 3.8 rebounds.
