Pineville-Bell 9-10s dropped a 19-1 loss to Knox County on Saturday in the opening round of the Area 3 tournament at Middlesboro. In the third inning, Knox County scored 13 runs. Pineville-Bell was unable to recover after the rally.

Knox County started the game off strong, scoring runs from their leadoff batter and KT Tuttle. Pineville-Bell got their first out of the inning after Cayden Collins grounded out to first.

Jacob Melborne also grounded out. Jacob Lundy hit a double to give Knox one base runner. Pineville-Bell ended the inning after Walker Landrum struck out Nick Sanders.

Knox County made quick work of Pineville-Bell during their first at bat. Following an out by Peyton Mason, Austin Goodin grounded out at first. Evan Biliter hit a fly ball to third base for the final out.

The Knox County All-Stars continued to score runs in the second inning. Ty Clark and RJ Osborne scored to open the second inning, giving Knox County a 4-0 lead.

After a strikeout and a ground out to first, Tuttle and Collins scored two more runs before the inning came to an end. Lundy grounded out to end Knox County’s at-bat.

Pineville-Bell struggled to gain momentum in the second inning. Landrum was the only runner to get on base in the inning. Jacob Jones, Jared Moore and Timmy Hall were all struck out before Landrum could score.

Knox County went on a rally in the third inning. The team scored 13 runs to cap off a strong showing. Each batter scored a run in the inning before Pineville-Bell was able to end the inning with an out by Collins.

Cameron Hoskins scored the lone run for Pineville in the third inning. The final for the game was 19-1 in favor of Knox County. The victory allowed Knox County to move to the winner’s bracket to play Middlesboro on Sunday.

Pineville-Bell moved to the loser bracket.
