The Panthers received a wake-up call at halftime and outscored the Tigers 44-14 in the second half for a 59-34 victory.
Cumberland Gap now advances to the second round, and a Thursday matchup with South Greene, a 49-48 winner over Gatlinburg-Pittman on Tuesday.
The possibility of an all-Claiborne County finals still looms as the Claiborne Bulldogs also advanced to the semifinals with a 67-59 win over Chuckey-Doak.
Cumberland Gap led 14-10 after the opening period, but watched the second period go past without a single field goal. The Panthers scored just one point in the period as Pigeon Forge claimed a 20-15 lead at the half.
Cumberland Gap quickly put the rocky stretch, and the Tigers, behind it in the third period with a 27-point outburst to take a commanding 42-28 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
The Panthers limited Pigeon Forge to just six points in the fourth quarter to coast to the victory.
Javan Crockett led all scorers with 18 points. A.J. Fultz added 15.
Allen Dewyse paced the Tigers with 12 points and Chris Andrews added 10.
Cumberland Gap gets a chance to finally knock off South Greene, whos two wins over the Panhters in the regular season came by a total of five points.
Claiborne shocked Chuckey-Doak in the third game Tuesday, knocking off the second-seeded Black Knights with a big third-quarter run.
The seventh-seeded Bulldogs used a 17-7 advantage coming out of the half to post their second straight win over the Knights following a 53-45 road loss in January.
Chuckey-Doak led the district for much of the season before faltering late, losing three of its final five district games, including a 53-50 nailbiter Feb. 11 at Claiborne.
The Bulldogs got a balanced scoring effort in the win, with Josh Estes' 19 points leading the way. Andrew Nickell added 18 and Dustin Poore tossed in 16.
Michael King poured in a game-high 22 for the Knights.
Claiborne now advances to take on sixth-seeded Union County, which also claimed an upset in the bottom half of the bracket, blasting third-seed Rutledge 62-46.
Claiborne was swept by Union County in the regular season, losing by only three points each time.
