Mr. Bird was born March 7, 1911, to James Mount Bird and Martha Jane Engle of Pineville. He and his four brothers, Faulkner, Vernon, Frank and Jim were most noted in their younger years as football players for the Pineville Mountain Lions. His late sister, Margaret Bird was the cashier at Morgan Drug Store for many years. His late sister, Linda Bird Marrs was known for her unending kindness of heart and loved by many.

Bob, as he was known by family, friends and community, was a retired local businessman and real estate developer and a faithful servant of his Lord and member of the First United Methodist Church. As a beloved husband, he was adored as a father, brother and uncle. He was a man of integrity, a steadfast friend and honorable business partner, an avid golfer and forever a friend to those in need. His enthusiasm for life never waned. Bob's desire to help others and his love of family were defining forces throughout his life.

His family deeply mourns his loss, but rejoices that he has joined his eternal Father in the more peaceable Kingdom of Life. We now celebrate his life.
