He was born Dec. 14, 1919, at Artemus, a son of the late Daniel Frederick and Cora Frederick. He was a member of Calloway Baptist Church, and had worked as coal miner for over 25 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Frederick; infant daughter, Joyce Frederick; sister, Cleo Hubbard; son-in-law, Aubrey Day; three grandsons, Sherwood Day, Keith Shackles, and John Frederick.
Survivors include five sons, Donald (Barb) Shackles, Emmitt, Mich., Jerry (Shevonna) Frederick, Ewing, George (Ginger) Frederick, Arthur, Tenn., Oscar (Pam) Frederick, Jacksboro, Tenn., and Daniel Frederick, Bulls Gap, Tenn.; five daughters, Edna Day, Pineville, Dorothy (Orville) James, Yale, Mich., Irma (Donnie) Barton, Garden City, Mich., Sharon (Larry) Tompson, Mt. Clemens, Mich., and Inez and Tom Davenport, Hulen; three brothers, James, Don, and Albert Frederick, Kentucky; two sisters, Eunis Bingham and Alice Hurd; 27 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Calloway Baptist Church with the Rev. Cecil Hensley and the Rev. David Howard presiding. Music will be provided by Kim Kidwell.
Interment will be in Frederick Cemetery at Calloway. Pallbearers will be Eddie Frederick, Donald Barton, Larry Thompson, Kristopher Barton, Gary James, Adam, Jamie and Danny Frederick. Honorary pallbearers are Joshua Barton, Dustin Day, Rusty Frederick, and Aaron Frederick.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Thursday at Creech-Durham Funeral Home, Pineville, which is in charge of arrangements.
