The Bulldogs got the opening kick-off and marched down the field to score a touchdown on a run by David Fuson to go up 6-0. The Bears got the ball and moved down the field. Three times on the drive they converted on third and long. They scored to tie the game at 6-6.
The Bulldogs got the ball back and went down the field and scored on another run by David Fuson, who also added the two point conversion to put the Bulldogs up by a score of 14-6.
Following the kick-off, the Bulldogs defense shut down the Bears, forcing them to punt after three plays. The Bulldogs got the ball back with only two and a half minutes to play in the first half. Time ran out before they could score again. The score at the half was Bulldogs 14, Bears 6.
The rain picked up at halftime and so did the Bulldogs. They kicked off to the Bears to start the third quarter. The Bears were unable to run the ball against the Bulldogs defense so they tried an aerial attack. Linebacker Josh Roberts intercepted a pass and returned it 48 yards for a touchdown. The two conversion attempt failed and the Bulldogs led 20-6.
Following the kick-off, the Bulldogs defense again came up big, forcing the Bears to punt again. At the end of the third quarter, the Bulldogs held to a 20-6 lead.
In the fourth quarter, the Bulldogs offense continued to move the ball at will. David Fuson scored again on a long run. The two point conversion was good - a pass from Elliot Stone to Brandon Bolden - and the Bulldogs led 28-6.
The Bear tried to move the ball any way they could but the Bulldogs defense stepped up and answered the challenge. Aaron Noe intercepted a pass and the Bulldogs ended the game with a 28-6 win.
Coach Ted Stone was very proud of his defense and the offensive line.
"This might have been the best offense we have played all year and we shut them down. The defensive line shut the run down. My linebackers and defensive backs shut the pass down. It was an all around team effort," he said.
Head Coach Todd Shackleford was just as proud of the offense.
"We worked hard this week with the offensive line on blocking and it showed. The holes was there and the backs hit them hard. We got a lot of tough yards from our fullback Bobby Chadwell and David Fuson was running strong," he said.
The Bulldogs will get ready this week for their game against Cumberland Gap at home on Thursday night, Oct. 13th. It will also be 8th grade night, honoring their 8th grade players.
They will host the first round of the play-offs on Thursday, Oct. 20th against Jefferson Middle from Oak Ridge.
