JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. — The LMU softball team dropped a pair of South Atlantic Conference games Wednesday afternoon as they fell to Carson-Newman 9-0 and 4-3.

LMU falls to 21-16 and 2-6 in the SAC with the losses.

In game one, the Lady Eagles held LMU to 2 hits as they picked up the 9-0 victory in five innings. Cierra Mudd took the loss to drop to 10-8 on the season.

Game two saw C-N pick up runs in the third and fifth innings to take a 4-0 lead going into the top of the seventh inning.

In the seventh, Lady Railsplitter lead-off batter Bridget Eicher was walked and then scored on the double by Brittany Stuive. Ashley Knight then came up to the plate and hit a single to left field that was misplayed, allowing Knight to get to third and scoring Stuive. Krisha Mahan then reached base on the fielder's choice as Knight beat the throw to home to make the score 4-3, but that was as close as LMU was able to get as C-N held on for the win.

Eicher led LMU on the afternoon as she went 3-for-5 for the day, going 1-for-3 in game one and 2-for-2 in game two. Katie-Jo Gentry took the loss in game two to fall to 5-7 on the season as she gave up four runs off of four hits with six strikeouts.

The Lady Railsplitters will play at the University of the Cumberlands on Thursday before returning home to host Wingate on Saturday.
