The Lady Railsplitters carded a 640 (+64) to finish eight strokes behind third-place Methodist. Belmont Abbey won the tournament with a +24 600, followed by Carson-Newman's 629. Catawba and Wingate tied for fifth with 643 apiece.
Desta Coaker led LMU as she shot an 81-76=157 to place 11th. Brittany McCown (80-82=162) tied for 31st while Whitney Ball (76-87) and Maria Stapleton (77-86) both hit 163 to tie for 36th. Kirsten Wolff tied for 51st with a 85-82=167 and Rhoni Daikoff, who competed as an individual, carded an 87-90=177 to tie for 66th.
Carson-Newman's Jessica Tarbet took Medalist honors with her +3 147.
This event wraps up the regular season for the Lady Railsplitters. They will compete in the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament April 11-12 in Conover, North Carolina.
Railsplitters Finish Seventh At TSU Big Blue Intercollegiate
SPRING HILL, Tenn. -- The LMU men's golf team finished seventh in the Tennessee State University Big Blue Intercollegiate held April 4-5. LMU carded a 607 to finish +47 for the tournament.
Murray State won the tournament as they posted a 595. Morehead State (600) was second, followed by Tennessee-Martin and Tennessee State with 601 each and Tennessee Tech (605). John A. Logan Community College (606) was sixth, followed by the Railsplitters. Lipscomb University was eighth with 613 while Trevecca Nazarene and Valparaiso tied for ninth with 620. Savannah State (635) and Alabama State (639) round out the field.
LMU was the only Division II team competing in the tournament.
Murray State's Cameron Carrico took Medalist honors with his 73-69=142.
The Railsplitters were led by Jamie Chapan (76-75) and Eric Kennedy (72-79) who both tied for 18th with 151. Cory Talley (79-75=154) tied for 29th, Joshua Cornett (81-74=155) tied for 33rd and Cory Bartlett (77-79=156) tied for 38th.
This tournament closes out the regular season for the Railsplitters, who will seek to defend their South Atlantic Conference Championship as they take part in the Food Lion SAC Tournament April 11-12 in Conover, North Carolina.
