She was born in Middlesboro, on July 30, 1928, and was the daughter of the late Leonard Goins and Anna Poore Goins. She was the owner of Ruby's Nursing Home until her retirement.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Cephus Lake and Erwin Roper; six brothers, Tommy, Buddy, Carl, Snook, Arthur, and Vonnie Goins; one sister, Lorraine Thomas; one stepson, James Lake.
Survivors include her children, Deborah Loveday of Glasgow, Ky., Steve Roper of Maynardville, Tenn., Cindy Shepherd of Lexington, Ky., Kim Adkins of Middlesboro, Pam Lake of Middlesboro; three stepdaughters, Shirley Marcum, Judy Nunn, and Glenda Lake; one sister, Beulah Botts of Middlesboro; one brother, Milton Goins of Johnson City, Tenn.; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and special friend, Phyllis Ann Marsee.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. today, June 16, at Shumate Funeral Home with the Rev. Jay Sulfridge and the Rev. Johnathan Hendrickson presiding.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. today at Shumate Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Green Hills Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chuck Loveday, Dusty Loveday, Johnny Vanover, Wendall Adkins, Marty Keck, and Jeremy Wilson.
