He was able to watch Chris and his Dairy Queen teammates rally for an 8-7 win in extra innings on Monday. It was the last game of the season for the team, but William's first.
Dairy Queen scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to make Chris the winning pitcher.
“This was the perfect game to come back and watch them,” William said. “It doesn't get much better.”

SFC William Short (pictured above with son Chris), returned from serving in Iraq on Sunday along with the rest of Delta Company, and the timing couldn't have been a better.
