He was born Sept. 15, 1915, at Oaks, Ky., the son of the late Millard and Mary Elizabeth Pittman Howard. He was a member of Oakdale Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Clayton Howard; two sisters, Bessie Wilson and Mireva Standifer.
Survivors include his wife, Lucille Howard, Rose Hill; daughter, Irene (Jim) Allman, Rose Hill; sons, Carter Howard Jr., Rose Hill, and Marion (Mary Sue) Howard, Rose Hill; brother, Reed Howard, Georgetown, Ky.; sisters, Hazel Howard, Harrogate, Tenn., Malinda Baker, Cincinnati, Ohio; six grandchildren, Jackie Good, Chris Howard, Rodney Howard, Regina Ledington, Breanna Howard, Kim Ray Williams; eight great-grandchildren, Josh Lewis, Taylor Hatchell, C.J. Howard, Rebecca Howard, Maxwell Howard, Seth Ledington, Caroline McDowell, and Kennady Ray.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Green Hills Memorial Gardens with the Revs. Scott Dunn and Mike Sutton presiding. Music will be by the Oakdale Singers.
Burial will be in Green Hills Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Monday at Oakdale Baptist Church.
