On Friday, Sept. 29, the Bulldogs of Claiborne High School defeated the West Greene Buffaloes 48-13.

The first quarter began with West Greene receiving the opening kickoff. However, they fumbled the ball two plays into the game and Claiborne's Michael Marsee recovered giving possession to the Bulldogs. Senior Ryan Helton then ran 48 yards on the next play to get Claiborne's first touchdown of the night.

A pass from senior Matt Williams to senior Joseph Holt in the end zone completed the two point conversion making the score 8-0.

West Greene once again had possession of the ball, but could not make anything happen and were forced to punt.

After a series of plays, senior quarterback Jared Liles ran the keeper 21 yards for the second touchdown of the night.

The point after was missed and the score was 14-0.

However, West Greene would not give up. At the end of the quarter they scored their first touchdown. The point after was blocked by junior Cameron Vandergriff and the score was 21-6 to end the quarter.

However, a few minutes later, senior Matt Williams intercepted the ball to give Claiborne possession once again. However, the Bulldogs weren't finished yet, an interception by Holt produced another opportunity for Claiborne to score. Jared Liles sneaked it in the final yard for the score. With 5:31 remaining in the half, the score was 42-6.

West Greene's next possession ended in a fumble recovered by junior Matt Whitaker. The point after was missed and at the end of the first half, the score was 48-6.

The second half was scoreless except for a touchdown by West Greene with 7:38 to go in the third quarter. However, both junior Jimmy Beveridge and senior Willie Estep had interceptions in the third quarter. The final score of the game was 48-13, Claiborne.
