offering continuing education classes for nurses and other health care providers

The Department of Continuing Education at Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College is offering two courses for nurses and other healthcare workers in Decemeber.

The first is Expanded Scope of LPN IV Practice: Administration IV Push/Bolus Medications. This session will be held at Pine Mountain State Park on Monday, Dec. 11 from 9 - 12 noon.

This workshop is designed to provide education and training for LPN's to administer IV medications or fluids via IV push or bolus route in accordance with the Kentucky Board of Nursing Regulation, 201 KAR 314.001.

Instructors will be Milton Borntrager, Glenna Bargo and Peggy Partin. The class fee is $25. Registration with payment is required by Dec. 4.

The second workshop being offered is AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers workshop. This workshop will be held on the Pineville Campus on Tuesday, Dec. 12 from 9 - 2 p.m.

The course offers a successful completion card for participants who complete the following: a score of 84 percent or better on the written exams and demonstrations of AED, FBAO and CPR psychomotor skills.

Instructors will be Suzanne Bagony and Henry Hughes. The fee for the course is $50. Students need to register and pick up books by Dec. 5.
