He was born on Aug. 8, 1955 in Kettle Island, the son of the late Robert Philyaw Sr and Lula Belle Wright Philyaw. He believed in the Baptist faith.
Left to mourn his passing are the following members of his family: His son, Billy Philyaw of Florida; brother, Claude Philyaw of Kettle Island; sister, Janie Cadell of Kettle Island; aunts, Demetrius Betty Philyaw of Frenchburg and Annie Wilcoxson of Campbellsville; a host of other relatives and friends and loved ones; and also his beloved dog, Blondie.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Chapel of the Creech-Durham Funeral Home, Pineville, with the Revs. Norman Cornelius and Arthur Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the Philyaw Cemetery at Kettle Island. Pallbearers wil be family and friends.
Creech-Durham Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
