Herb Price says it's time to spend more time with his grandchildren.

Price was the postmaster in New Tazewell from February 1979 until is retirement in January 2007. He started his postal career in 1974 working in Mooresburg, Morristown, and Rogersville before coming to New Tazewell.

Co-workers are planning a retirement party on Thursday, Feb. 8 at the First Avenue Hall. It will be a catered affair and all area business people are invited. Acting Officer-in-Charge of the New Tazewell Post Office Jeananne Baker is coordinating the plans. Anyone desiring to attend should contact her before Feb. 5 at (423) 626-0201. The cost will be less than $10 per person.

Price lives in Morristown with his wife Debbie. Their son Joshua is serving with the Coast Guard in Minnesota. A second son, John, and daughter Porsha Smith reside in Morristown.

"Tell everyone I'm retiring for my grandchildren, Landon (4) and Joseph (6 months) Smith," Herb said

"Herb has been good for this post office and we will miss him," Baker said.
