Bell County Fiscal court meets briefly

PINEVILLE - The Bell County Fiscal Court met briefly in a special-called meeting Monday morning.

With all magistrates present, the court approved the second reading of an ordinance imposing a license fee for the privilege of engaging in the business of insuring lives, health or property within the unincorporated areas of Bell County.

The funds will be distributed among five agencies with part going into the Bell County General Fund. Bell County Ambulance Service will receive 50 percent, Bell County Volunteer Fire Department will get receive 25 percent, nine percent will go to the general fund, seven percent will be directed to Frakes Volunteer Fire Department, five percent to the Bell County Rescue Squad and four percent to the Bell County Sheriff's Department.

Magistrates approved the transfer of $6,197.50 from transfers only to Homeland Security Equipment. The funds are to be used to get an enhanced 911 system for Bell County.

Miron Southerland has been hired as a full-time deputy with the Bell County Sheriff's Department at $10.48 per hour, effective Monday, February 26.

The fiscal court approved to accept Donald Fugate Road and Dozier Lane into the Bell County Road System in District Two.
