Jared Liles will compete in the 300 hurdles at the state track meet on Friday, May 25. Last season Ryan Helton finished fifth in the state in the 110 hurdles. Jared qualified in the sectional meet at Sullivan North on May 10.
The men's and women's team competed in the sectional meet and the following athletes placed in the top 8 in their events.
For the women, Chelsea Pressnell took seventh in the 200 meter dash.
For the men David Fuson took sixth in the long jump and Ryan Helton took sixth in the 110 hurdles. The 800 relay team of Eric Stone, Cameron Vandergriff, David Fuson, and Ryan Helton took eighth.
The men's and women's teams had very successful year, the two teams combined had over 60 athletes on the team. Eleven school records were broken and 22 athletes competed in the regional meet. "We have had a very good season. I feel that track here at Claiborne can be a very competitive sport with any of the area A-AA teams. The seniors on the team have done a great deal to put Claiborne High on the map in track. I am very proud of Jared both as a coach and as his dad for making it to the state meet," Coach Barry Liles stated.
