Game one started out as a pitcher’s duel between the Lady Cats’ Amber Taylor and Barbourville’s Callie Broughton.
There was only one hit in the game through four innings, a single by Bell’s Kacy Denny in the first inning. But the Lady Tigers got a run on three errors in the second and led 1-0.
The Lady Cats left the bases loaded in the first and a runner on third in both the second and fourth innings.
They finally broke through in the fifth.
Senior Rachel Blank (pictured above) led off with a walk, Denny singled and Tracy Laws walked to load the bases.
Kristan Baker followed with a two-run double to put Bell on top, 2-1. Kayla Banks singled on the very next pitch and Laws and Baker scored to make it 4-1.
Banks took second on the throw home and then scored on a base hit by Taylor as the Lady Cats took the first game 4-1.
The Lady Cats kept their bats rolling in game as they pounded out a 14-0 win behind Laws.
Bell (11-16) returns to action Monday at Pineville.
