Born May 25, 1923, at Frakes, she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Nancy Partin Overton. She was a member of the Mountain Assembly Church of God.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Murray; daughter, Tammy Murray; infant children, Sylvia, Bernice, Jeanette, Jerry, Wallace and James Ray Murray; brothers, Wenci Overton and A.E. Overton; sisters, Roxie Mason, Viola Maiden, Opal Turner, and Fearl Oaks.
She is survived by the following members of her family: five children, Wayland Murray, Frakes, Virginia (Wendell) Mason, Frakes, Betty (Pete) England, Duff, Tenn., Brenda (Charles) Gibson, Frakes, Jim (Myrtle) Murray, Frakes; three brothers, Carl Hickman, Frakes, Olard Hickman, Pineville, Junior (Mary Jane) Hickman, Michigan; one sister, Beatrice Partin, Frakes; 19 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and one, great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday at Creech Funeral Home with the Rev. David Jackson and the Rev. Philip Jackson presiding. Music will be provided by Rusty Mason, Clarence Hurst and Kay Robbins.
Interment will be in the Jack E. Partin Cemetery at Frakes, with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at Creech Funeral Home, Middlesboro, which is in charge of arrangements.
