Thelma Lourene Munsey was born April 17, 1922 and went to be with the Lord May 29, 2007 at Claiborne County Hospital.

She was a faithful member of the New Tazewell Christian Church. She devoted her life to teaching in the Claiborne County School System for over 40 years, touching lives of countless students. She was preceded in death by her parents: Anderson and Barbara Munsey; brothers: Lawrence Munsey, Whitt Munsey and Jack Munsey; sisters-in-law: Zolian and Hazel Munsey; nephews: Ronnie Munsey, Lynn Munsey and Bill Munsey; great-nephew: Gary Davis; step-mother: Velta Munsey

She is survived by her nephew: Jackie Munsey and wife Kay of New Tazewell; nieces: Rita Doss and husband Leslie of Nashville, Betty Davis of Tazewell, Marie Davis of Tazewell, Neta Munsey of New Tazewell; sister-in-law: Sallie Munsey of Tazewell; great nieces: Dana Bradley and husband Gerald of Seymour, Rebecca Greene of Nashville; great nephews: Andy and Christy Munsey of Knoxville, Tim and Amy Munsey of Knoxville, Russ and Ranee Munsey of Tazewell, Kelly Munsey of New Tazewell, Mr. and Mrs. Ande Munsey of Morristown, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Davis of Morristown, Mr. and Mrs. Terry Davis of Tazewell; several great-great nieces and nephews; special cousins: Doris Sowder and Helen Pressnell; special friend: Gray Good; and a host of dear friends.

Funeral services were Thursday, May 31 at 8 p.m. at Claiborne Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Parker and Rev. Eddie Overholt officiating. Music provided by Rena Gilbert and Marty Reece. Burial in the Shoemaker Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Lynn Barnard, Richard Beeler, Donald Dobbs, Jackie Keck, Steve Minton, Hoye Robinson, Clay Neely, Roy Norris, Dayton Parkey, Dennis Peters, Hollis Robinson and Billy Ray Russell. Honorary Pallbearers: Men of New Tazewell Christian Church.
