MIDDLESBORO — Bessie Geneva Hash, 72, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2007, at her home.

She was born April 1, 1935, to the late William L. Johnson and Frances Sharp. She was a member of Old Yellow Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Ethel Hash; three sisters, Alice Fritz, Mary Vaughn and Martha Rowland; and one brother, Robert “Bobby” Johnson.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years (Sept. 6, 1955) Robert L. Hash Sr.; five children: Bobby Hash and Patricia, Rene Hash Johnston and Mike Gipson, Tony Hash and Sherry, Anna Hash Laws and Arnold, and Rhonda Hash and Randy Cunningham; six sisters, Nancy Smith and James, Bea Brown and Bud, Joyce Klaja and Richard, Anita Asher and Allen, Jane Frasier and Betty Lou Johnson; two brothers, William L. “W.L.” Johnson and John Johnson; brother-in-law, Dennis Hash; grandchildren: Kathy Weyer, Lee Hash, Dall Hash, Brian Johnston, Tommy Johnston, Shannon Smith, Dee Anna Good, Spencer Hash, J. P. Hash, Tessa Laws, Josh Mize and Trevor Mize; 13 great-grandchildren: Matthew Smith, Lonnie Engle, James Hash, Elijah and Jerimiah Hash, Trinity and Shelby Smith, Logan and Morgan Hash, Hope Good, Aaron and Zach Hash; and a host of nieces, nephews and special friend, Brenda Brimm.

Funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at Shumate Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Boyd Gray officiating. Music will be by Alva Cunningham.

Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at Mountain View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be John Ford and Danny Beaty.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at Shumate Funeral Home Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Shumate Funeral Home.
