He was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army from 1957- 1959. He was preceded in death by his parents: Neal and Mellie (Estep) Brooks; brothers: Howard Brooks, Tony Brooks, Millard Brooks and Neal Brooks, Jr.; niece: Linda Brooks.
He is survived by his wife: Louetta Lambert Hurst Brooks of Harrogate; brother: Reyno Brooks and wife Georgia of Marion, In.; sister: Polly Cox and husband Clyde of Evansville, In.; step-children: Ronnie Hurst and wife Norma of Harrogate, Mike Hurst of Harrogate, Pam Wilmoth and husband Mike of Tazewell; step-grandchildren: Tiyawnah Miracle and husband Adam of Fayetteville, Nc., Tyler Hurst of New Tazewell, Katasha Brown of Tazewell, Brynn Hurst of Wise, Va., Benjamin Wilmoth of Tazewell; sisters-in-law: Mildred Brooks of Atlanta, Ga., Shirley Brooks of Selmer, Helen Brooks of Batesville, Ak., Lila Brooks of Kokomo, In.; several nieces, nephews and a host of other friends.
Funeral services were November 13 at 7 p.m. in the Claiborne Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lawrence Fultz and Rev. Eddie Overholt officiating. Music provided by Rose Kiser. Burial in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Mike Brooks, Gary Brooks, Jim Brooks, Ronnie Brooks, Mark Brooks, Rick Brooks, Bruce Cox and Brian Cox.
