On Friday, Nov. 16, the Cumberland Gap Panthers finished their 2007 play-off run with an overtime loss to Gatlinburg-Pittman.
Although the loss was a hard one, it can hardly cast a shadow over the achievements and records they have reached and surpassed. The Panthers walked off the field with the school's first 10 win season, and the overall best record in school history. The Panthers finish 10-2 with their only losses coming on the road from the Gatlinburg-Pittman Highlanders.
This year's team was the first to open up the season with a win and won eight straight games which made them the first team in the school's history to have any kind of undefeated season.
The Panthers had several big wins including a huge comeback performance over arch rivals Claiborne Bulldogs (36-35), which helped propel them into a big region win against Happy Valley (44-14). The Panthers drew Happy Valley again in the first round of play-offs and had another successful performance defeating them 38-14.
