LMU’s Alvarez & Pack make All-Region teams

HARROGATE, Tenn. — Less than a week after earning National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) All-Southeast Region First Team honors, Lincoln Memorial University senior infielder Juan Alvarez (Carolina, Puerto Rico) has been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association All-Southeast Region Baseball Team.

Alvarez, a two-year letter-winner with the LMU baseball team, Alvarez led the Railsplitters at the plate this season with a .358 batting average 68 hits, 14 doubles, one triple, two homeruns and 42 RBI. While helping his team reach their second consecutive South Atlantic Conference Tournament, Alvarez also turned in a .474 slugging percentage and a .445 on base percentage while finishing the year with a .959 fielding percentage that included a team best 172 put-outs.

To go along with his all-region recognition, several weeks ago Alvarez was named to the 2011 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference All-Tournament Team and was a First Team All-South Atlantic Conference selection.

LMU senior outfielder Cody Pack (Andersonville, Tenn.) has been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Assiciation All-Southeast Region Third Team according to information released earlier this week.

Pack is a four-year starter and letter-winner with the Railsplitters. During his senior season of play with the Railsplitters, Pack turned in a .313 batting average that included 56 hits, 11 doubles, one triple, 11 homeruns and a team best 56 RBI. Pack also turned in a .570 slugging percentage with a .431 on base percentage while leading all Railsplitter starters with a .992 fielding percentage.

Ealier this year Pack was named First Team All-South Atlantic Conference and helped the Lincoln Memorial University baseball team finish the year with a 29-22 overall record while reaching its second conference tournament in as many years.

Alvarez and Pack are two of 10 seniors that were lost to graduation following the 2011 season. This year's Railsplitter squad finished the year with a 29-22 overall record.
