ROSE HILL, Va. — Opal Trent Cope, age 83, of the Flatwoods community, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Wellmont Lee Regional Medical Center in Pennington Gap, Va.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest “Pig” Cope; son, Ancil Cope; and parents, Strawden and Mabel Wolfe Trent.

She is survived by: Daughter, Denise Wainscott and husband, Bob, Barbourville, Ky; daughter-in-law, Brenda Cope, Rose Hill, Va.; eight grandchildren, Kevin, Rodney and Shane Cope, Kelly Anne Cottrell, Philana Cope, Brandy Cope, Elena Cope, and Bobby Wainscott; ten great grandchildren, Corey Shoemaker, Rylee, Reece, and Raelyn Cope, Chase and Colee Cottrell, Brittny Hall, Jeremiah Wood, Tori and Shaina Cope; one great great grandchild, Gregory Zack Hall; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Arney-Mullins Funeral Home, Jonesville. A celebration of life will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Tracy McPherson and Rev. Dee Owens officiating. Burial will follow in the Hamblin Cemetery in Rose Hill, Va. Pallbearers will be grandchildren.
