A series of injuries and a determined South Laurel team were too much for the Middlesboro Lady Jackets to overcome Thursday in the 31st District championship game. The Lady Cardinals (14-6-1) defeated MHS 6-0. Middlesboro (13-2-0) played without most of their regular defense as goalie Emily Pannocchia joined Katherine Dubin and Chandler Miracle on the sidelines for Thursday’s game. The Lady Jackets will advance to next week’s 16th Region tournament where they’ll be among to favorites to get the finals for another likely shot at South Laurel.
