The Middlesboro Middle School Lady Jackets posted 7th and 8th grade wins at Knox County Monday evening.

The MMS 7th graders built a 23-12 halftime lead and went on to a 35-25 win.

Leading the way for the 7th grade team was Blair Green with 18 points and Hannah Warren with 11. Rounding out the scoring for Middlesboro was Jane Millett with four points and Rachel Hensley with two.

The Knox 7th-graders were led by Kammey Bargo’s eight points. M. Askins added seven, K. Jones five, Dani Gray and A. Osborne two each and Sydni Hammontree one.

Middlesboro’s 7th graders are now 4-0.

In the 8th grade game the Lady Jackets cruised to a 49-12 win after leading 26-7 at the half.

Anajae Stephney led MMS with 17 points and was joined in double figures by Stevie Shepherd with 11. Others scoring for the Lady Jackets included: Taylor Prater with eight, Blair Green with five, Hannah Warren with four and Bailey Hensley with two.

Mariah Barrett led the Knox 8th-graders with four points. Robin Davis, Sydni Hammontree, Kammey Bargo and Dani Gray added two each.

The MMS 8th graders are 4-1. The Lady Jackets travel to North Laurel Thursday where they’ll play a 5th and 6th grade game, a 7th grade game and an 8th grade game.

In unreported action from last week MMS won a pair of games at Page. The younger Lady Jackets won 42-16 and the older Lady Jackets won 45-29.

In the 8th grade game Shepherd hit five 3-pointers as she and Stephney scored 17 points each to lead all scorers. Green added six and Prater four while Bailey Hensley handed out seven assists.

Page was led by Erica Gambrel’s 15 points. Kelli Smith added eight and Sarah Collins six.

In the early contest Green led MMS with 16 points and Rachel Hensley added six. Other Lady Jackets scoring included: Jane Millett and Jamayha Poe with four each, Hannah Warren, Malorie Carter, Brenna Voges, Cassidy Partin, Baylee Woody and Taylor Yoakum with two apiece.

Jillian Enix led Page with eight points. C. Hatfield added four with Deaton and Taylor scoring two each.
