LMU women fall at Anderson, 67-62

HARROGATE, Tenn. — The Lady Railsplitters traveled to Anderson University for a Saturday afternoon South Atlantic Conference match up. In that game, Lincoln Memorial fell to the Trojans by a score of 67-62. With the loss, the Lady Railsplitters fall to 3-3 in the South Atlantic Conference and 8-6 overall.

The Lady Railsplitters were led by Lauren Cochran and Dayshalee Salaman as they scored 14 apiece. Ralissa Nelson scored 13. MaRanda Boddie was a force on the boards as she grabbed 13 rebounds.

The Trojans were led by Breonda Shannon’s 20 points. Emily Willoughby added 18 off the bench.

The first half of play was characterized by the defensive struggle of the two teams as they battled to a near stalemate throughout the half. A jumper by Lauren Cochran to end the half put Lincoln Memorial University on top 25-23 at the break. The Lady Railsplitters made a run of their own to establish a six point lead with 11:36 remaining.

The Trojans would control the latter portion of the half as they took as large a lead as 64-54 with 2:09 remaining. LMU would fall by a score of 67-62.

The Lady Railsplitters will look to get back into their winning ways on January 18th, as they travel to Brevard College. That game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start.
