A lifelong resident of Claiborne County, Tenn., he was a son of the late George and Laura Longworth. Mr. Longworth was a veteran having served his country in the U.S. Army.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Iva Marsagio; three brothers, Tip and George Longworth, and Lawrence Hurell.
Survivors include a daughter, Melissa Edwards, Harrogate; a son, Darrell Longworth and his wife, Betty of Middlesboro; five grandchildren, Amanda and Barbara Edwards, Edward and Paula Longworth, and David Edwards; a great-granddaughter, Makayla Sturgill; a sister-in-law, Betty Longworth of Tazewell; a son-in-law, Johnny Edwards; also several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services for Mr. Longworth will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, February 9, in the Mountain Home National Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Boone Dam VFW Honor Detail.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 11:30 until 12:30 p.m., then go in procession to the cemetery.
